Imagine ur in a server.
It has a password but you know it.
You're not alone. There are others.
You know everyone else who is in that server at this single moment of time.

Imagine some were red and others blue.
Imagine that all are truely crazy about flags. I mean who in their right mind isn't.
The teams are fairly balanced. The air smells a little salty. You can hear the ocean.
Well actually it's just a large pool of blood but there is definitely salt in there.

Just imagine how much fun it could be.

Most of you seem to play a lot of public games. The thing is, owning nubs is not as rewarding as some real tactical encounter. Like sidewinder 4 against 4, it's beautifull. Epinephrine rushing through your veins. It's magical.

And the best thing is YOU could be part of this trip.

the way i see it is, we should just get everyone to meet in a server set aside for scrim, invite them with xfire like harb does for his 'semi' sessions lol... surely these scrims could be classed as official.. first 2 people in the server are captains, and take it in turns to pick players from those in a server... then we scrim a couple maps with those teams, and decide if we want to change them up or carry on.... who ever got to pick a player second gets to pick map first (obviously talk with your team using the T key to see what they want, but feel free to over rule them..) and the team who didnt get to pick map that round gets to pick colour, as you all should know, most maps are unbalanced, even the classic ones!!..

thoughts?..

Nice ideas adam. :)
The most important thing is that the teams are fair. Also it doesn't matter how good you are, everyone is invited to play, we just need to balance it.
I like the idea to organize it like the weekly semi official sessions. :thumbs

Just 2 points:-
  • Any Guild Member "Self-organised" Scrim is cool, and you can count me in. :P
  • As a Guild, (as opposed to a Clan) Scrims will never be "Official", so there wont ever be any designated "® Guild Scrim Server".

However, Members are welcome to use this Forum for suggestions & notifications etc. Xfire also is perfect. Possibly even set up an Unofficial Xfire ® Scrim Community, in which interested Members can subscribe too.

Nice idea sanni. Well as you know organizing a scrim isn't hard, its trying to keep the players in the server until the end of every match. Also scrims tend to get a bit too competitive with people raging and calling mercs to help them and then its a big mess.

I would suggest something more neutral. The concept is quite simple. As an example I will use a server called "SM" in 1.00 CE hosted by Ghosty. He got the idea from EGT's esc server.

It's basically a 24/7 mix scrim where people come and go as they wish. It's also a nice place to practice, meet up with friends and to look for real scrims.

So its sorta like your idea. A password protected server which password is technically public (posted here) and given to anyone who asks for it. The server has gandanur with rock-the-vote enabled. As vote options it has cbctf, team slayer etc with suitable maps. Helps a bit so there doesn't need to be admin present always.

The server owner/operator would give the rcon, as needed, to the active and trusted players who play there.

Worked out great in 1.00 anyhow.
